California State Parks Specialized License Plate Now Available

California State Parks Specialized License Plate Now Available

California State Parks (State Parks) has unveiled its specialized vehicle license plate "ParksPLATE”.

The design of the plate features California’s official tree, the California redwood. Proceeds from the sale and annual renewal of the plate will provide an ongoing funding source for the restoration and preservation of state parks across California.

State Parks officials unveiled the specialized plate at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park where some of the most extensive restorations since a major reconstruction effort in the 1890s are currently underway. Plate sales will support restoration projects like this one and help the department restore and preserve California’s state park system.

It’s Over. Say Goodbye. Get out and MOVE

It’s Over. Say Goodbye. Get out and MOVE

You heard me. Put it down. You don’t need that last Milky Way. No seriously, you don’t. Will one more kill you? No. But you don’t need it. Step away. Throw it away. Like deep down in the trash so you aren’t tempted to dig it out later in a moment of weakness. Is it in there? Deep down? Good. Now get out of the house and go for a walk. Crisis adverted.

You’re welcome.

I think we can officially welcome Autumn at this point since it doesn’t appear it will hit 90 degrees again in the coming weeks. So welcome beautiful cool, crisp, air. Bright, deep, gorgeous fall colors, and every holiday that center’s around eating. We here at Mama Bootcamp welcome you with open arms. (notice I did not say open mouths?) but open arms yes, because it is the most wonderful time of the year!

Community Business Bank Names Finalists for $10,000 Giveaway

Community Business Bank is celebrating its 10th anniversary by giving away $10,000 to a deserving regional not-for-profit. In September, community members were asked to submit entries by email or on the Bank’s Facebook and Twitter social media pages explaining why their favorite not-for-profit deserves $10,000.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming response to our call for outstanding non-profits in our community,” said John DiMichele, CEO, Community Business Bank. “More than 450 people nominated a total of 58 not-for-profits making it a tough decision to narrow the list down to just five finalists. In fact, we created a final list of the top six not-for-profits now in the running for $10,000.”

The top six non-profits selected as finalists include:

Lodi kidnap victim opens up 21 years later

STOCKTON, CA - For any parent hearing the news back in July of 1994, there had to be chills. A 12 year old Lodi girl was tricked into opening the front door while her parents were away, she was kidnapped, and not found for about 20 hours.

Twenty-one years later Katie Romanek is talking about what happened, how she struggled in the years following and how she wants to help other victims of violent crime.

"I need to help, it's why I"m alive, it's why I wasn't murdered. That's why I"m here. Why else would I be here," said Romanek. "Doesn't matter if it's women or a child, I want to be there for them. I'll hold their hand and be there for them," she said.
