Family of wandering girl in Lodi located


Lodi police said they have reunited a young girl and her brother after a search Wednesday morning for her parents.

She was found wandering near Church and Lockeford streets Wednesday morning. Police posted her picture to their Facebook page around 8 a.m. asking the public for help finding her parents.

About an hour later, police said they found the child's father.

There are no charges, and the investigation is ongoing.

Pacific announces new Sacramento degrees: Expansion is milestone in region’s higher education

University of the Pacific celebrated June 26 the expansion of its Sacramento campus, longtime home of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, into a multidisciplinary center that will educate the professionals California needs in the decades ahead.

Joining the law school will be new graduate programs in health, education, business and public policy. Five new degrees will be rolled out over the next two years: Master of Business Administration; Doctor of Education; Master of Public Policy; Master of Physician Assistant Studies; and Master of Public Administration.

“This is a watershed moment for our university,” said Pamela A. Eibeck, president of University of the Pacific. “Pacific has been a pioneer in higher education in California for more than a century and a half, and it is with great excitement that we expand our presence and service in the Sacramento region.”

Swimming, boating and fireworks are part of 4th of July at the Lake, the City of Lodi's annual celebration.

Admission to Lodi Lake Park (1101 W. Turner Road) is free, with gates opening at 7 a.m. Public swimming at the beach and boat rentals are available beginning at 10 a.m. The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.

Special events include a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. and attractions such as reptile shows and arts and crafts activities on the north side of the lake. Visitors may purchase beverages and food on the north and south sides of the park.

Two of the nine people killed in a sightseeing plane crash in Alaska Thursday were from Lodi, Alaska State Troopers said Friday night.

Stockton Metropolitan Airport (SMA) Director Harry Mavrogenes outlined recent accomplishments and projected improvements at the facility to the San Joaquin Partnership Board of Directors this morning during its regular monthly meeting in Stockton.

Mavrogenes said there are four critical growth areas for the SMA:

1.Grow and promote existing air passenger service

2.Bring a domestic airline that will link Stockton with a major hub airport

3.Promote the creation of international service

4.Develop air cargo as a viable business
