2 ½ hours from everywhere: Murphys Historic Hotel stands test of time

It could be said that Murphys Historic Hotel is a doorway to another time, but its doorway is literally from another time. Upon entering the establishment, one might notice the doorknob is a mere two feet off the ground; a design choice implemented so that patrons would have to dismount their horses before entering.

This is but a taste of the rich history within the walls of California’s oldest continually-operating hotel. Established in 1856 as the Sperry and Perry Hotel, its ownership has changed hands seven times in its 162-year history.

XO Music Festival in Northern California announces Superstar lineup for their premier music, art, food and fun festival.

The spirit of “American Graffiti” endures today on 10th & 11th Streets in Downtown Modesto on the Historic Cruise Route, where the people of the true cruising route inspired George Lucas’ film.  People across America and all over the world are invited to have a rockin’ good time as the “Walk of Fame” Class of ’18  is unveiled on the Modesto Historic Graffiti Cruise Route on Wednesday, June 6, on 10th Street between J and K Streets in conjunction with the Mid Valley Chevy Club’s Park ‘n Shine that hosts approximately 300 classic cars and hot rods.
