Over 3,500 Lodi Third-Graders Gear Up for Agventure

     Over 3,500 third-graders and 450 volunteers from the Lodi, Linden, and Stockton areas are gearing up for AgVenture this Wednesday, March 7 at the Lodi Grape Festival Fairgrounds.

Students have the opportunity to tour the Lodi Grape Festival Fairgrounds and experience agriculture through presentations of plants, animals, and farm machinery.

Presenters, exhibitors, guides, and volunteers to present an exciting and educational
event to teach students the fundamentals of agriculture


WHAT:  Students have the opportunity to tour the Lodi Grape Festival Fairgrounds and experience agriculture through presentations of plants, animals, and farm machinery. Students will learn about the food grown in their hometowns.

WHEN:    Wednesday, March 7, 2012
   9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

WHO: Over 3,500 third-grade students from Lodi, Linden, and Stockton area schools; over 450 volunteers

WHERE:  Lodi Grape Festival Fairgrounds
   413 E. Lockeford St., Lodi, CA

WHY: AgVenture educates the future of San Joaquin County’s students by increasing their awareness of the importance of agriculture. It showcases the county’s agricultural industry and teaches students the benefits of making healthy eating choices. By forming connections between the food on their plates and the crops grown in the county, students learn how agriculture impacts their daily lives.
 
 AgVenture is jointly sponsored by the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, the San Joaquin County Ag Commissioner’s Office, the San Joaquin County Office of Education, San Joaquin County Farm Bureau, California Women for Agriculture, Food 4 Less, H. J. Heinz Company, and Rancho San Miguel Markets.
